Hmm.

"The commonest fallacy among women is that simply having children makes one a mother—which is as absurd as believing that having a piano makes one a musician."

FT.

What a fantastic weekend. Here are some pictures from our trip to the park today.

That face cracks me up.

Sundays are always good days at our house. Once the busy work gets done, it's just time to hang out. Today I made an awesome lunch (spinach wraps with sun dried tomato chicken sausage, spring greens, red pepper, cheese and honey mustard. Mmm!) and we just spent some nice family time together. Something that we don't really get to do all that often. We also tried giving Bean her first finger foods! It went over okay, she wasn't used to chewing that much, so more came out than in but just like with jar food, we'll be persistent and she will love it soon enough!

What a good two days. Hope your weekend was great as well!

Continued.

Our bedroom is looking much better!

Thanks to a few upgrades, I feel like we are almost there. A new lamp, duvet cover, pillow cases and rug that we already had. We have also been doing a little rearranging of everything else in the house. We are kind of in search for a new kitchen table. Something more study that our kids can do homework at and eats lots of family dinners at. The one that we have is a great starter table. I have had it for a long time and it's served me well. We do not have a dining room, so it has to be something that fits in our kitchen. It's a challenge! We added a new lamp to our downstairs den, providing yet another place for me to do homework at. Yesterday I purchased a small bookshelf (this one but espresso) next to our desk upstairs to help organize. I bought two of these bins from Liberty of London for Target. I can't get enough of these designs. So colorful and pretty! I wish I could buy their entire line!

I want to minimize EVERYTHING. I want to seriously downsize and live SIMPLY. I hate how controlled by "stuff" I am. I also want to be content in my home. I think I am going crazy because we have a child in the house. I want to make a nice home for her and Josh, somewhere we all can be comfortable.

We're working on it!

Birthday.

This is my AMAZING friend Drea.

Tomorrow is her birthday.

This is the birthday card that I would write to her if she were here.

Dearest Drea,

Happy Birthday from across the world! I cannot begin to tell you how proud of you I am! I wish that you were here celebrating with us. Red wine, smokey treats and the birthday game, it's all waiting for you when you come back! Your return is going to be the perfect summer gift. Get ready for some serious love on you! We will all be fighting for your attention, that's how much we love you!!!

In all honesty, let me tell you how thankful I am for you. Although our friendship has been somewhat brief, you have been a light in my life. I can always depend on you to tell me the truth and show me how God has his hand in whatever I am struggling with. Thank you for showing your heart no matter what kind of state it is in. You are such a woman of God. You go where He leads you, and has lead you to some pretty crazy places. Thank you for listening to Him. Thank you for being such an awesome woman.

I love your friendship, I love your presence and I can't wait to share more life with you.

Happy birthday my friend. Love you so much.

I guess that I would need a pretty big birthday card for that.

My love for my friend is immeasurable.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DREA!

Just a little photo shoot we did today by my friend Audra's house. The wildflowers were calling to me.

March.

That is it. This girl is going to like to read.

(Shanda and Baby Wallace)

She is almost 31 weeks pregnant with Baby Wallace. Her and I have become better friends through finding common ground of being pregnant. She is the most loving, caring, attentive woman of God that I have ever met. Every time I see her, I feel graced by her presence and cannot wait to add Baby Wallace to that mix. I am counting the days till that little boy or girl is birthed at her home. I can't hardly stand it. Bean is getting a buddy so soon!

Color.

Lately we have been spending a lot of time outside. Walks, trips to the park, gardening. I am loving spring so far, the colors and the weather. It's so great and makes me want to spend all day with Violet outside! Here are some photos of what's been going on outside at our house.

Isn't she cute? Love the different focuses of these two photos.

Can wait to add more color to our backyard! Spring has sure sprung at the Johnson household and we're loving it.

Inspired.

I am head over heels for this website!

LOOK HERE.

Probably some of the most beautiful stuff I have seen for kids and adults. So original too! I would love to fill Bean's nursery and the rest of my home with designs like these! Here are some previews:

New.

Really hating my house right now. I have reached that stage in my life where I would like furniture that matches and somewhat nice looking things. I want a place that I feel comfortable in. There are a few places in my house that I love and wouldn't change a whole lot, but this is not one of them.

MY DREADED BEDROOM.

We have furniture in it, but the color and decor is all off.

Beige walls
Pictures everywhere
Black bed frame (the curly-q one from IKEA)
2 drawer night stand
Black glass door cabinet for books
White sidetables
Blue, green, brown bedlinens
Gray curtains

It feels like madness! Everything looked like it would go together, but I can't handle it anymore. This is the one space that I am supposed to LOVE and have love in, and I really don't like it. Here is what I am thinking:

Thoughts or ideas?

I really love this color combination and want to see if we can make it happen!

BUSY.

Gosh have we been busy.

I started two new classes on Monday and they are a LOT of work. When I say a lot, I mean like three times the work that I was doing in my previous classes. Not to mention, one is a math class. No thank you.

Bean and I have been taking a lot of adventures. We went to the Aloha Festival this past weekend with my mom and her boyfriend. It's our 4th or 5th, and I loved every minute of it. It's just an annual celebration of Hawaiian culture. Since my mom lived there for 18+ years, we like to go and relish in the past. I lived there as a child for 5 or so years. We bought tons of great food, treasures and had the best time.We went to the zoo on Monday. It was so nice to be outdoors two days in a row! We fed some giraffes, touched some stingrays and saw every single animal there is to see there. Here are some photos!

It's been so great! Loving spring so far!
