Chair Chaos.

These are my dining room chairs. Wah wahhhhh...

I have been researching on how to upholster them myself. While I am finding some decent information, I am not exactly sure how to go about starting the process. The chairs, table AND my kitchen cabinets are all the same color. Between all of the brown, I need some more color! I need a pop. There isn't a whole lot of natural light that comes into the kitchen and small dining room (one window faces the carport, and the other faces the patio) so I think that I am going to need to find it with the fabrics that I choose.

Does anyone know anything about working with leather/chairs like this?

Saturday...

Since it's a lovely 70 degrees here this afternoon, I will be spending most of my time outside brainstorming some new stuff for WFB.

Sorry about not posting a lot this last week, school is getting the best of me. With only 11 weeks left of my AA, it's crunch time. So, I have school to keep me busy. Next weekend we are photographing all of my new Linen Lovelies items (so excited) that will be available in my store soon!

So, in the spirit of the weekend, I'm putting down my computer and catchin' some rays.

SEE YOU ALL ON MONDAY!

5 Tuesday Faves.

It's time again! Tuesday!!!

First, Scherenschnitte. Yeah, say that ten times fast. (I have no idea how to either) Regardless of your ability to pronouce this website name, you'll love her (Cindy Ferguson) designs. I have never seen papercutting at this caliber. It's quite beautiful, original and the best thing about it is that every Tuesday you get a free template that you can download and cut yourself! How cool! I have gone through and chosen a few for almost all of the rooms in my own home.

Second, I give you The Girls with Glasses.

I WANT TO BE THESE GIRLS. Yeah, both of them. I have never seen something like this in a long time. The Girls with Glasses have a hilarious kind of Wayne's World-like show. Brilliant, witty and crafty, this is a must-see for any girl with glasses. I, like them started wearing specks when I was little (I actually got braces and glasses in the same week) and really didn't understand how to love them for a lonnnng time. If I had the option to wear contacts (which I don't, I HATE touching my eyeballs. Ew.) I would pick glasses hands down, every single time. I actually just bought a gorgeous vintage pair recently and will have those beauties back prescription-ized next week-ish. Can't wait. These girls make glasses really cool for all kinds of girls, so for that, I thank you.
Check out their show HERE!

Thirdly, this week, I discovered The Bicycle Portraits Project. While I am a fan of really cool bicycles, I am also a fan of really great fundraisers. TBPP started off with Nic and Stan, two bicycle enthusiasts traveling around South Africa photographing the people and their bicycles. This project is not about passion for bikes, it's about the passion for the people that ride these bikes. They learn about their lives and their everyday needs for these bikes. They are currently still raising money to continue their travels and fund the publication of this book. Through this project they hope to teach about bike safety, tires, tubes, locks, etc. These are everyday necessities for bicyclists and the people of South Africa. It's an amazing project and I hope to see these two complete their goal! Funding for Part III of their mission starts in the next couple months, and if you'd like to learn more or help out, you can do so here.

Fourthly we have Johnny Miller Photography. I'm love a good photo, and this guy really has it going on. He photographs everything: people, food, interiors and his work is pure MAGIC. I ran across it today and couldn't keep my eyes off of it. And plus, I knew that it was good because my husband went, "Ooooh" when he saw this photo.
 Right?!

Oooh, this one too.

He also has a series that he did on love letters that I fell in love with...

Fifth and last, my new glasses!!! These babies will be mine sooner or later and can't wait to sport these around EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Stay tuned for next week!

5 Tuesday Faves.

It's time for another installation of 5 Tuesday Faves! Hoorah!

First, Joy Folie. These have to be some of the most beautiful little shoes that I have ever seen. Made from all organic materials, little baby feet will look so wonderful in these! They aren't inexpensive, but the craftsmanship and detail make them so worth it. For gosh sake, I would wear all of these pairs if they were in my size!

Second, I give you Centsational Girl! I just came across her (her being Kate) blog in the last couple of weeks while doing some research on converting our current headboard into a tufted headboard. Centsational has a ton of really great, easy DIY projects! We will be following her instruction for the headboard and who knows what else, but if you're a DIY person like I am, you'll love this!

Thirdly, (we're almost done) I'll show you Aura Joon. This is by far, one of the most beautiful photography blogs that I have seen in a long time. It's a wonderful insight to her life, and the life that she will soon be bringing into the world! I love, love, LOVE her photos and they're so beautiful that I thought that I would share. I know that you'll love them.

I love bow ties. I love my man in a bow tie. Someday, I plan on making them and I know that Etsy shop Tux and Tulle will be giving me a run for my money. They carry every kind of tie that you could or would imagine, and my very favorite: their vintage cotton neckties. GORGEOUS. These are perfect for weddings, photo shoots or just everyday accessories for your special man.

Lastly, we have not a shop or a store, but a DIY for men. The Beginner's Guide to Beards. I saw this last night and I laughed so incredibly hard. I love a beard, just like I love a bow tie and this for the shaven faced man is quite fitting. I guess guys pay attention to this kind of stuff. (I don't get it either...)

Desk turned Patio Table.

A little Johnson DIY went down this week.

For the longest time, Josh and I had this old, kind of crappy little wooden table and chairs that I bought from IKEA ages ago. It's served me well, but was just not nice enough for our Laredo. The table has been in the guest room (now Taryn's room) serving as a desk and the chairs have just been extras that we pull around the fire pit when we have extra guests over. Since Arizona has only two seasons of winter and summer, we recently moved the fire pit from underneath the overhang and pulled the desk and extra chairs out. With the magic of spray paint, here's what we accomplished!

Cute right? And don't worry, the grass won't always be teal, and I'm sure takin' those labels off of those wine bottles. Perfect outdoor seating!
