Look What I Found...

While on a walk this morning with my sweet little Bean, we walked past a house that looked like it was being cleaned out. There were piles of stuff out front, ranging from toys, clothes and yucky furniture. Yes, yucky is the only adjective I can think of to use. Among the debris, I found this gem hiding behind a few other things.

A WHITE LEATHER TUFTED HEADBOARD. Get out of here! Are you kidding me?!

Our new addition came with a lovely amount of dirt and dust on it, but with a quick wipe down it looked brand new. It is missing two buttons (see picture #4) but those can easily be replaced. It needs no re-upholstering or anything! Just another secondhand/found/free item to take its place in my ever changing house.

Wedding Season.

I found these amazing free wedding downloads from Wedding Chicks. There is a free bunting invitation that is DARLING a they have several options for free monograms that would be wonderful for a stamp or invitation. They have free RSVP cards, photo cards, you name it. If you are getting married or know someone that is, share this with them!

I've Found It...

With any change in season, I love to change the color schemes in my house. Touches of colors, textures and accents bring about a totally different feel in the house. Anna Maria Horner has now become my default for color. Her vintage inspired products make me swoon, and I want everything in her shop, especially the little girl's apron for my little Bean.

Love Loans & Linen.

Since we are up in the air with deciding to re-finish our cabinets, I've still been looking for inspiration. I got lucky when I came across Love Loans & Linen. Their home products are simple, clean and just beautiful. I'm secretly hoping to be able to put a few in my kitchen...

Spring/Summer at Linen Lovelies!

It's been a while since we heard anything from my Etsy shop, Linen Lovelies, hasn't it? Well, that ends today. I am adding a TON of stuff to the shop in the next couple of days and here is a preview of some of the items that you can find there!

There is so much more than this! Stop by and say hello!

DIY Kitchen Makeover Part I.

This past week I shared with you our steps to creating our "Dreaming of a White Kitchen." Since the kitchen cabinets will require a LOT of work/time, I started with the small stuff today: painting our dining room table and chairs. So far with only one chair done, I'm not entirely convinced yet if we should continue or leave them alone. Maybe you can help me out on this one...

Current state of our dining room minus the one chair that was being painted. Don't mind the random shoe on the floor...

Post-tape job.

See where I messed up? One should never spray paint on impulse...

(I had an oops...)
What do you think? With a white kitchen would black iron and rattan chairs be a nice contrast, or should we got matchy matchy with the white? Just the chairs white and the table black? So many options!

I'm Dreaming of a White...Kitchen!

Last night, Josh and I made a quick run to our local Home Depot. Since the air conditioner is already being put to use, we went to stock up on some air filters. Air filters, that's it...

Yeah right.

We picked out some air filters and like always, I can never accept just going to Home Depot for one item. Just doesn't make any sense to me. I love to walk around the store, envisioning what those wood floors would look like in my house, how much roomier my laundry room would be with stacked washing machines (which we have, but they are not stacked yet) or how wonderful those flowers would look in front of my house. I dream in Home Depot, and I love it.

While taking a trip down the paint aisle, I walked up to the counter and just randomly asked if they carried the Rustoleum Transformations kit. He led me down the aisle, and walked me up to a stack of boxes. There it was. The key to my dream kitchen. Josh and I debated about it, pros and cons, then decided that we would purchase it. Along with the kit, we walked out with a few other items. The best part about it was that we FORGOT the air filters! We were so caught up in the excitement of painting that we totally forgot.

I'm pretty excited about this. I know that it is going to take a long time, but I don't care. It's so worth it. Our kitchen is so narrow and lightening it up I think that our space is going to feel much bigger. I may test it out today on just one door, who knows.

Check out some amazing before and after photos here.

Here are some inspiration photos I will be using for reference. We're going for a white kitchen with blue accents.

Can't wait to show you the progress! What do you think it will turn out like?

Undecorate.

This wonderful little tidbit of email greatness showed up in my inbox today. Dwell Studio, one of my all-time favorites, have launched a spectacular Tumblr featuring the concept of "undecorating." The photographs are amazing and really, truly inspiring. It captures the essence of the lack of structured design; those who simply just "do what they want." Sometimes design isn't all about matchy-matchy, structure, or placement. Maybe sometimes it's just about doing what makes your house feel like yours. I cannot wait to get my hands on this book.
Christian Lemieux says it best...

"It would seem that my new book Undecorate has generated some buzz and controversy.  I wrote the book in response to a sweeping trend I see…. The openness of the internet and social media, the landslide of information, the advent of the style blog by professional and non-professionals alike  - all resulting in people designing for themselves the rise of great personal style.  Design has stopped being a start and finish process – we are looking at each other and learning and tweaking our spaces, our wardrobes our personal style all the time…hence Undecorate. I love a good debate."

Polaroids for Everyone.

Pretty darn obsessed with these DIY polaroid magnets via Ambrosia Girl. SO cute. These would be a great wedding project or gift. Can't wait to make these!

This into That: Vintage Dress Re-Do.

When I did my wholesale shopping day, this was one of the dresses that I picked up. It's actually not a dress, it was an old candy striper's uniform! How cool is that? I loved it, but when I put it on, it didn't exactly work for me. That didn't last for very long though...

And the best part about it was it was FREE!
(I've told you all how I love free...)

Summer Goal #1.

I love creating goals for myself. While some are completed, and some are not, I really making a list for myself. I love progression and change. One of my summer goals, among others is to take a calligraphy class. I love collecting pretty things, and I have the desire now to make pretty things. Rubber stamps, cards, wall art; the list is endless. And really, what is prettier than calligraphy?

I am inspired, needless to say. These images aren't helping that a whole lot.

(From Etsy shop Primele. SO beautiful.)

What are your summer goals? Have anything fun or not so fun you want to do this upcoming season?

Mustard.

I've noticed a trend around my house lately. While putting out my spring decor, it caught my eye that I have a lot of my favorite color floating around the house. Funny how sometimes you don't notice very obvious changes...

Notice anything?
